Mechanical VS Electronic Safes Lock? That is the question.
Many people who come into our store ask us the same question. Which lock is better on a Gun Safe, Electronic or Mechanical dial lock? Well, the answer is always the same: “If it was up to us, we wouldn’t even sell electronic locks”. Why? Well because as far as security there is absolutely no difference, but when it comes to reliability, mechanical lock is the way to go. Anything electronic is designed to fail sooner or later. Just think of your TV breaking down or your roster burning out. Face it, sooner or later it will happen. When mechanical things like your old grandfather clock that has been working for as long as you can remember will probably work a long time to come. Mechanical locks on safes have been used for the past 150 years and are considered to be a proven technology. We deal with this every day. And for every 20 broken electronic locks we will get one mechanical. Bottom line is, its not that complicated to input a combination on a mechanical lock. Those extra 7 seconds just might save you from being locked out and having your safe drilled opened.
